Brandon Blatz is well-known in Western New York’s Scouting community.
Born and raised in Amherst, NY, Scouting was important to Brandon and his family. His father Bob, is the Operations Director for Great Falls Council.
Brandon earned his Eagle Scout in December 2012 and was awarded Venturing’s highest rank, the Summit Award, in November 2018.
“Earning my Eagle Scout and Summit Venturing Award meant a lot to me, knowing the hard work and dedication that it took me to achieve these prestigious awards and the weight that these awards carry,” added Brandon.

Brandon thought he was finished with working for the Council when he left Camp Schoellkopf after the summer of 2017, continuing his career with the Ken-Ton YMCA as the Assistant Day Camp Director in 2018, a sports coach, working as a school-aged child care lead and with the UPK program.
A retirement and subsequent opening at the Council piqued Brandon’s interest and in 2018 he joined Council staff full-time as the Council Camping Coordinator. Three promotions later, Brandon currently serves as the North Star District Director and Scouthaven Camp Director.
Brandon has big plans for 2025. His professional resolution is for the North Star District to hit membership growth goals, which would ultimately create more opportunities for youth to develop their character, personal fitness, leadership skills, and citizenship skills that will influence scouts into their adult lives.
“I believe that Scouting makes the world a better place and can truly build the leaders of tomorrow.”
Brandon is a Past-President and member of the Rotary Club of Kenmore, Rotary District 7090 as the Area 10 Assistant Governor and as the US Interact Chair. For the past five seasons, Brandon has head coached the Lockport 10U MOHL hockey team and in 2023-2024, his team won the championship. In his free time, Brandon enjoys playing hockey and kickball, and watching the Buffalo Bills, Sabres, and Bandits. In addition to being an Eagle Scout and Summit Awardee, Brandon is an OA Vigil Honor Member and Wood Badge trained.
